Irradiation & Age Testing
|

Two irradiation studies involving BarbLock® Sleeve & Collet Samples have
been concluded. The first group was subjected to x1 20-40 Kgy. The parts were
dimensionally checked for any physical change, and then strength tested for pull
off resistance. The results of the first sample are equal in every respect
to pristine non-irradiated BarbLock® Sleeve & Collets.
The second
group of BarbLock® Sleeves & Collets were subjected to irradiation levels
of x2 20-40 Kgy, dimensionally checked for any physical change, then aged in a
Precision Oven @ 60° C for 3 weeks (Equivalent to 3 years of aging according to
the material manufacturer). The second group was dimensionally checked a second
time after aging for any physical change, and then strength tested for pull off
resistance. The results of the second sample are equal in every respect to pristine
BarbLock Sleeve & Collets.
A base line group using non-irradiated
BarbLock® Sleeve & Collets were aged using the same parameters as the
second group of irradiated samples. After the aging process was completed they
were dimensionally checked for any physical change, and then strength tested for
pull off resistance. The results of he non-irradiated aged base line group was
equal in every respect to pristine BarbLock Sleeve & Collets. |
