When installing BarbLock® Ultra-Secure Tubing Retainer onto a barbed fitting with a seat or tube stop (figure 1), it is recommended that you hold the tubing back approximately 1mm (.040 in.) as shown in figure 2. The gap will allow the material displaced by the 360° compression a space to move (figure 3). The lower the durometer of tubing the more important the gap (figure 5). The gap is also important when attaching high durometer tubing but the amount of displacement is minimal (figure 4). For a quick and easy measurement use the BarbLock® assembly tool's support shelf, it is 1mm in thickness (No other measuring is required).
